Girls Camp 2012: YCLs and horseback riding

We were fortunate enough this year to be able to go horseback riding. The girls LOVED it! The first group to go were the YCLs (Youth Camp Leaders), as they were the only girls on Monday through Tuesday morning. I love this time with the older girls. We focus on preparing them to be leaders and have some fun as well.

Our stage and the wonderful decorations. The YCLs created the banner and contributed to scenery.
We called the dining hall "The Grand Hall."

Each ward made a mailbox for the girls to write notes to each other, to receive gifts, and to take care of their "little sisters."

Hanging out! These are such great girls. Do you love the "frog hat?" They made one for each of them!

Getting ready for the YCL devotional. I wish we had pictures of this. I read to them two books: "Fanny's Dream," and "The Paper Bag Princess." If you have not read these, you must! Especially if you have a daughter. We talked about what "Prince Charming" really is. Not some silly fairy tale man but what a real companion should be like. We based the devotional off these books and talked about self-esteem, self-worth, and self-respect. It was a great night.
