Things I am loving this week

So the forecast this weekend is for my little corner of the globe to visit the 80s during the day and the 60s at night. I am so excited!! I am sure you in northern parts are shaking your head with pity at this pathetic display of fall. But for me it is fabulous!!

Yesterday at preschool they were hanging apples from the tree on the playground with string so the little ones could "pick apples." It was the cutest thing! In the meantime all the classrooms were cooking apples in the skillet with cinnamon and sugar and the smells emanating from the building were amazing! I had fall dancing in my head, although truly it did make me miss my Massachusetts days. I really would love to take my kids leaf-peeping and have them enjoy all the true fall New England milestones. Sigh.

In the meantime, yesterday I was at Target and saw the new Missoni line. I held each piece in my hands and coveted all of it. But really, even though I saw the sign that said, "This is a limited line and will not be replenished," I just couldn't pay the prices. We are trying to save up for a home and a trip here and there, and I just can't pay sixteen dollars for tights and thirty for a sweater for my daughter. The reality for us is that we have one of the best outlet malls on the planet down the road, full of great stores with clothing at a serious discount. So for me, the Missoni is lovely to look at, but for now will not be in my basket.

Tomorrow is Jack's birthday. I am, as always, stunned when their birthdays sneak up and surprise me. You would think I would be used to this by now, but apparently not. Three is a hard one for me because he is really leaving his babyhood behind and turning into A REAL BOY (sorry that was a Pinocchio moment there).

Tonight Gary and I bought some balloons and things for Jack's birthday. I really like to go all out for my kids birthdays and this year was no different; I spent twelve whole dollars at the dollar store. Tomorrow Gary will take him to the doughnut store for breakfast; it's a birthday tradition here since I don't let my kids have doughnuts in other time. I'm not a very fun mom when it comes to food.

Well, I am off to bed.  I hope you all have a great weekend! And hurray for General Conference weekend!

  2. Happy Birthday Jack!!
Don't miss your Mass. days too much. While you're enjoying 80 degree weather, I'm "enjoying" 4 straight days of 60's and raining. Boo.
