transformation

So today, after many polite hints from family, I had to face the fact that jack was resembling the shaggy dog and it was time for a haircut.

I had no idea how to do this. I have had girls for pete's sake, and Gary takes care of his own hair. I figured I would find some kid-friendly hair-cutting place and just do it that way. I could only imagine how horrible and uncooperative Jack would be.

Then I spoke with my good friend Mandy on the phone. She, the mother of twin boys, convinced me that I (okay, Gary) could do it myself (himself). She gave me some crucial advice:

1. Stick a lollipop in his mouth.
2. Prepare yourself for the transformation. He will be your baby when you begin, but a little boy when you are done. That's the hard part.

She was right.

My sweet little shaggy puppy.

There go the curls. And a little piece of my heart (was that overly dramatic?).

The good news is, Jack was totally unfazed and unconcerned with the whole thing. He focused on the lollipop and paid no mind to the clippers.

And finally, Daddy finished up. Which was good, because we were coming to the end of the lollipop.

Look at that! Mandy was right, as cute as he looks, it's such a shock to see him as a little boy.


No, he's not walking yet. But he's kinda sorta thinking about it.
